The tip is from GoldDerby.com, an awards tracking sight. Another winner will be Mel "give me some pain" Gibson for, well, you know. PASSION wins for "best drama," but F 9/11 wins for "best movie of 2004" - the big one. The article includes a spin from the Murdoch-owned New York Post on the idea that the Awards were freeped for Mr. Moore:
But are these selections REALLY the American people's choices? CBS ditched Gallup Poll judging for cheap Internet voting that can be manipulated easily by zealous fans. "Tinseltown has been buzzing about organized campaigns on behalf of Moore's Bush-bashing Fahrenheit 9/11, reports The New York Post.
Unlike the Oscars or the Golden Globes, the People's Choice Awards tip their winner's slightly in advance in order to get them to attend. The tip also talks about how this award helps both film's chances to get an Oscar nomination, but I wouldn't put too much stock in that. The People's Choice awards have never been considered a true pre-cursor to the Oscars.
Nevertheless, Moore will be there tonight to accept the award, apparently from Martin Sheen!
Will there be fireworks, or another strong statement from our boy? They are on CBS tonight beginning at 9:00pm EST.
